Course Summary:

The Water & Flood Awareness (AW) course is a classroom-based programme designed for personnel who support rescue teams at water-related incidents and flooding. Learners develop an understanding of water and flood hazards, risk assessment, incident management, safe working practices, and basic land-based rescue techniques, providing the knowledge needed to work safely around water and support operational response. This course meets the requirements of DEFRA Module 1 – Water & Flood Awareness.

Assessment Methods:

Continual assessment. 

Certification:

Successful learners will receive a Rescue 3 Europe accredited Water & Flood Awareness certificate which is valid for 3 years. Any team on the DEFRA National Asset Register, or requiring the course to remain DEFRA compliant must refresh annually.
