Water Awareness & Safety, DEFRA 1 (In Person)
Maximum Learners: 12 Minimum Duration: 4 Hours
Course Summary:
The Water Awareness and Safety (WAS) course is classroom-based, helping individuals recognise and manage risks when working near inland waters lakes, canals, rivers, and coastal environments. It covers hazards, control measures, safe practices, PPE, and zoning, reducing risk of accidental immersion for those not working within three metres of the waters edge.
Assessment Methods:
Continual assessment. For those who require training to the standard of DEFRA Module 1, a video of learners demonstrating the practical use of a throw bag must be provided.
Certification:
Successful learners will receive a Rescue 3 Europe accredited Water Awareness & Safety certificate which is valid for 3 years. If you require a current DEFRA Module 1 certificate, the training must be recertified annually.
Accreditation:
This course is accredited by Rescue 3 Europe.
